Fire Monster Approaching City
Sky and Fire Monster: Scott Wills
City: Me
BG Layout: Joseph Holt
Those of you who have been eagerly awaiting the new show from animation legend Genndy Tartakovsky (of Samurai Jack and Dexter's Laboratory fame!) need not wait much longer. His new show SYM-BIONIC TITAN is almost here! I have been working on this show for almost a year now with many of my idols including master artist Scott Wills! I won't waste too much of your time with reading, but I have a big announcentment:
SATURDAY JULY 24 AT COMIC-CON
Genndy is going to be at the Cartoon Network Action-Adventure Panel from 1:45-2:45 on Saturday. You definitely want to go to this panel! Genndy's gonna be showing some seriously AWESOME stuff from the show!
Following the panel, Genndy will be doing an EXCLUSIVE SIGNING at the Fleet Street Scandal booth at 4:00! Yes! After the panel you can make your way over to our booth (#5007) for the opportunity to meet Genndy Tartakovsky in person! I'm told he will probably be doing drawings too!
OK... if your head has finished spinning after all that, please scroll down for a first-ever look at some of the artwork from our show. Thanks Cartoon Network for letting me post this, and thanks Genndy for letting me be part of such an amazing show and an awesome crew! Now please enjoy:

And those backgrounds .. just gorgeous .. all of them !

Looks like everybody grew up & made a show for 20-30 somethings! Will this appeal to kids? Did Samurai Jack? All i know is as an animation i love the artistry involved in this work but who's it for? The bg art is extremely accomplished while the Tezuka influenced characters seem to jar with that style. This is all based on only these images of course- i look forward to seeing the pilot & series. |

Roberto Severino July 16, 2010 - 07:27 PM

Whoa! I had no idea Genndy was making another show, and with freaking amazing Stephen DeStefano and Scott Wills working on it! I didn't find out about this until I saw the story on Cartoon Brew. These BGs are absolutely beautiful. Great work, Kevin, and the rest of the crew. It looks like you've all worked really hard on it, and I wish it a great success on CN.
Just one more reason for me to actually watch CN again. I haven't watched it regularly for years because of the awful stuff that's been plaguing it. Maybe this will be a breath of fresh air for that channel. |

Wish I could contribute a more insightful thought but I'm having a total nerdagsim right now. |

Fantastic backgrounds! i'm very excited to see such lovely paintings as backdrop for an animation series.
I am a fan of Tadehhiro Uesugi's work and your work reminds me of that (especially "School" ).
Keep it up! |

Jack July 17, 2010 - 03:33 AM
 |
Why is Peter Griffin one of the characters? |

nw July 17, 2010 - 04:58 AM
 |
I agree with Matt J. The backgrounds are beautiful...have a T. Uesugi feel to them. The characters are top notch too but they feel as thought they don't compliment each other. Hard to tell from just still images, i agree, but i am definately looking forward to it. :) |

Hi, I noticed the Comic-Con Web site lists Genndy as signing from 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm in AA6. Is the signing at your booth definitely at 4:00? Thanks - looking forward to it! |

Laura - That listing is out of date. Genndy isn't doing that signing anymore. He will definitely be at our booth at 4! |

Wow!!!!!!!! The art looks incredible!! The backgrounds are reminiscent of those from Samurai Jack...iow...gorgeous. And I LOVE the old skool anime' look of the characters and the architecture. I'm really looking forward to this series and watching it w/ my kids.
Thanks for posting the art!
As an aside, I'm totally shocked at how little hype there has been over this show. It's really flying under the radar. It really seems that crappy shows get hyped to death. But I'm guessing this is really going to a hit. And yet...hardly a word about it. |
