This is the same crew that created the Kiss From Tokyo trailer, but this time the scope was a lot bigger and we had help from a few additional people. I will go into more details next week when the film is released! You will be able to watch it here and on yuki-7.com.

Screenprinting!

Last month, in our continuing effort to get ourselves active and away from the computer, Chris and I started taking a screenprinting class with our good friend Pete Oswald. It has been a lot of fun! Let's check on our progress, shall we? I wonder what Chris has been doing?

Oh, here he is. He's mixing some ink. That's a nice looking yellow!

Now his screen is flooded with that aweome yellow!

A successful first color!

Here you can see the film from his first color and a stack of prints.

Turnsey inspecting the screen for his second color after rinsing! Not even the smallest mistake will slip by!

The finished print! I wonder if these will be for sale at a convention in the near future?

And here is our friend Pete getting ready to pull!

Stacks of Pete's bird prints on the drying racks!

I think he is pleased with his progress!

Now it's my turn. What on earth am I making?

Here's my prints chillin' with a bunch of Pete's now finished bird prints!

This is what the screen for my second color looked like, covered in black ink.

And there it is on top of the red from earlier!

It's fun figuring out how to fit the most prints on the drying rack at one time.

Here's a closeup of my finished print! (secret: it's from the new Yuki book!)

That's it for now! I'll be sure to let you know how the rest of class goes!

Looks That Kill - Coming This Summer!

For the past few months I've been kind of quietly working away on finishing the new Yuki 7 book. I started planning it pretty much immediately after we released the first book, but it's taken a while for the vision to completely coalesce. The reason for that is that Yuki's world has grown a lot bigger, and with it the scope of the project. There was a lot to figure out, but it's finally coming together and I get to wake up every morning excited about all of the new things that are happening!

This summer will see the release of LOOKS THAT KILL, the first "Official Yuki 7 Adventure Book". It's being written by my wife Elizabeth, and is a full-blown spy story with loads of intrigue and gadgets and awesome fashion! Above you can see a snippet of the cover, which was designed by myself and a really talented young kid named Matthew Edwards, who's helping me with the book layout. The official release date will be July 16th, and we're planning an awesome release party to happen at Q Pop! There's also going to be a new short film in the vein of the Kiss From Tokyo trailer, which Stephane and I have been working very hard on. And of course, we also have an amazing roster of guest artists who are contributing to the book!

Lorelay Bove
Megan Brain
Shannon Tindle
Chris Turnham

I'll be revealing a lot more details in the coming months, but for now here's a new illustration from the book!

Where Have I Been? Part IV: Q Pop

Our really good friend Chris Mitchell recently opened a new shop downtown called Q Pop and he asked me and Elizabeth to paint murals for it! Elizabeth undertook the massive exterior wall, and I enlisted Chris Turnham's help to do the inside wall. I documented the whole thing on video:

Here are some kinda crummy shots I took on my phone of the completed murals (Turnham shown for scale):

The interior of the shop was designed by none other than Justin Thompson!

Chris and his girlfriend Miki have filled the shop with some of the coolest toys, art, and fashion from Thailand and Japan! You should definitely go check it out, it's one of the most unique shops I've seen in Los Angeles!

This past weekend Chris and I had a booth at CTN in Burbank for the first time and it was really fun! We got to meet one of our longtime heroes, Tadahiro Uesugi!
One of the best things about the convention though, which Chris and I keep talking about, is all the talented young artists we got to meet! We saw a lot of great portfolios and I wanted to highlight a couple:
