  THE LAST MORNING i reserved a special section for these two photos because the last morning of the trip was one of the best moments of my life. i was disappointed to have gotten 3rd place in the contest (even though i still won $5,000 - a whole semester's tuition), but the next morning when i went walking, it was one of the most beautiful scenes i've ever witnessed in my life. it was so serene, and so pretty, and it felt like i was the only one in the world out by the lake. i dunno, it didn't make me feel good about myself or anything, it just made me feel good about the world in general. those kinds of moments don't happen every day. the only other one that sticks out in my mind was when my family went on a trip to the desert in saudi arabia, looking for desert diamonds. you can only see them in the morning, right when the sun comes up. as the sun starts to rise, you suddenly see a thousand little sparkles in the sand, and it's like standing in a star field in the desert. anyways, this moment in geneva made me feel the same way as that did.   |
